Johnson Lexus awards 2013 Lexus ES 300 Hybrids to two Durham Senior Amateur Championship Golfers for sinking hole in one !

Two Durham Senior Amateur Golfers were stunned when they both made aces on the same hole to win new Lexus ES 300 Hybrids on May 21st. Johnson Lexus was honored to sponsor the 2013 Durham Senior Amateur Golf Championship which took place at Croasdaile Country Club in Durham on May 20th and 21st. The hole in one prize we sponsored was a 2 year lease on a brand new 2013 Lexus ES 300 Hybrid.  On day two of the Championship Johnson Lexus was thrilled when Kelly Ritter, Durham resident, stepped up to the tee at hole #11 drove the ball with expertise and sunk the hole-in-one ! An hour later Gerry Silva arrived at hole #11 and with one remarkable swing the unprecedented became reality. He sunk the second hole- in-one of the day. Johnson Lexus was elated that, against all odds, two players shot aces to win two of our Lexus vehicles. We were shocked and anguished when we discovered the Johnson Lexus prize was displayed at hole number eleven, when our contract stated the insurance policy was written for hole number two. Despite the costly mix up, Johnson Lexus dealerships took over immediately and stepped up to the tee. Johnson Lexus of Durham and Johnson Lexus of Raleigh awarded each of the two lucky golfers with new 2013 Lexus ES 300 Hybrids sedans. Mr. David Johnson, Chairman/CEO of Johnson Lexus stated that “these players should be proud, our dealerships have been hole in one sponsors of this tournament, and many others, for years. In the spirit of sportsmanship and giving back to the communities which have given us so much, we’re excited to provide another dream come true to two amazing athletes.”

The Midtown Race Series

The Midtown The Midtown Race Series was established in 2012 to produce a series of first class running events that start and finish at North Hills in Raleigh, North Carolina.  The race series features two events in 2013, the Lookout Capital 5k, 10k and half marathon that was held on June 1st and Johnson Lexus 5k, 10k, and half marathon, which will be held on September 21st.  In conjunction with our sponsorship Johnson Lexus, has selected the Special Olympics of Wake County to be a race beneficiary as a part of the Midtown Race's Charity Challenge, which exists to support local charities.

When runners register, they can donate to any of the charities selected by each sponsor, or send an email to someone to donate on their behalf for racing.  Each charity will receive 100% of the proceeds that are raised through the Charity Challenge.  In addition, the charity that raises the most money will receive a percentage of the race proceeds!  The Special Olympics of Wake County has approximately 1,200 athletes that train and compete in Wake County throughout the year. This makes the Wake County program one of the largest as well as one of the most active in North Carolina.
As the official automotive sponsor for the Midtown Race Series 2013 races, Johnson Lexus provided the chance for all the race participants to win a new Lexus IS C worth up to $45,000.  One of the race participants in the Lookout Capital 5k, 10k, 13.1 held on June 1st and one other participant in the Johnson Lexus 5k, 10k, 13.1 on September 21st will be eligible to win the new Lexus.
The runners pace is not a determining factor in the contest for the Lexus; each participant has the same chance to win.  During the awards ceremony following the conclusion of each race, one lucky participant will be randomly selected for a chance to win the Lexus.
"We are thrilled to have Johnson Lexus as the title sponsor of our fall race," said John Kane, Founder and CEO of the Midtown Race Series. "Their brand is synonymous with first class service and their commitment to our community is unparalleled, making them an ideal partner for Midtown Race Series."

Johnson Lexus  was proud to sponsor the Saint Raphael Memorial Golf Tournament benefiting the Ryan O’Connell Scholarship Fund. Eighty-eight golfers participated in the event on May 13th, which was held at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course at the NC State University. The Saint Raphael Memorial Golf Tournament is an 18-year tradition, which became a memorial event in 2000 after Ryan O’Connell, a third-grader at the school, went to be with God far too soon. Thanks to the generosity of his family, a scholarship fund exists in his name and is the catalyst for this tournament that also generates additional funding that our Home & School Association (HSA) uses for student and teacher needs not covered by tuition.
